Limitations in Numbered List

Obsidian recognizes the Numbered List and Indent It Accordingly only by the following markdown syntax:

1.
2.
3.

But Sometimes I need different forms of Numbered List as below to work with.

a.
b.
c.

A.
B.
C.

i.
ii.
iii.

I.
II.
III.

(1)
(2)
(3)

But these are not recognized as Numbered List in Obsidian; So that it does not indent them Accordingly.

Can this feature improved so that obsidian recognizes these numbered list as well.

While there is “Obsidian flavored markdown”, different list types aren’t part of the CommonMark Spec. You might find this post interesting:

Thanks for the article. Seems to be either the Obsidian Team or a Plugin Developer will be able to bring this functionality into Obsidian referring to this blog post.

I believe it’s possible to use a CSS snippet to change the list marker types in Reading View, at least (maybe it can be made to work in Live Preview too, but I imagine it might cause weird behavior). There may be posts about it here in the forum; if not there is probably discussion about it on the Discord.

The source text itself can only be the one style because that’s how Markdown works (as mentioned).
