Left ribbon icons not visible

Wish to make icons in the ribbon visible all the time in the left sidebar

They show up when I hover. But I wish to have them visible permanently.

If I made them invisible, then I forgot how I did it. Can someone educate me on how to make the ribbon icon permanently visible

Could be a theme setting, a plugin, custom CSS, or any combination.

I know the Hider plugin can do this…

Thank you for the hint. As soon as began to read your answer, it was a slap to the forehead. My head was definitely somewhere else. Change the theme and there it was again.
