Keyboard shortcut for markdown checklist [x] done?

markdown has nice checklist format and obsidian displays it well
but is there a way to attach a shortcut to ‘checking’ a box? ie putting an X in the [ box ]

It’s not as simple as adding something to the hotkey menu
there are some great TODO extensions for VS code that make editing a pleasure, since obsidian is markdown first, i was hoping for a good UX.

- [ ] play hex
- [ ] sell socks
- [x] wash rugs
- [ ] eat rolls

There are two vanilla commands you could try:

  • Toggle checkbox status (hotkey is assigned Cmd/Ctrl + L by default)

  • Cycle bullet/checkbox (hotkey unassigned by default)
