Keyboard navigation - how to close a dialogue box by cancel

I’m loving using Obsidian on my iPad, often with an external keyboard. One snag in the flow tho is that if you have a dialogue box open (from CMD-O or CMD-P say) with its list of files/commands to pick from, I sometimes change my mind and want to close the box without executing a command or opening a file. How do I do that from the keyboard? On screen its easy, just touching somewhere not in that box. Reaching to touch is annoying though.
Thanks

⌘+. (COMMAND+Period) will do it if the keyboard you’re using doesn’t have an escape key.

Thanks! - I could swear I’d tried that hence my asking
