What I’m trying to do
Hi folks,
I’ve been searching the boards for this, and seen it a lot as a feature request but most of the relevant topics are 3+ years old. I’m seeing some indication that this is an implemented feature, but can’t find anything concrete either in the forums or help page. Posting here in case it’s something I’m missing, if not will try and revive the issue in a new feature request post.
Basically what it says on the tin - I can’t figure out how to quickly iterate / switch between notes in the sidebar (either by focusing the sidebar and then switching, or just doing it with a single key combo). My goal is to view notes in quick succession, without using the mouse.
Things I have tried
Currently, I can click into the sidebar, then scroll using the arrow keys, then hit enter to open the desired note. This would be tedious but semi-workable, the problem is that a) notes I scroll past are not revealed and b) focus immediately leaves the sidebar when I select a note, and I have to click into it again if I want to select another one. I understand there is at least one community plugin that aims to solve this problem, but I’d rather avoid plugins and would really expect this to be a core functionality, especially with the requests I’m seeing over many years.
Here are a couple of the related topics that I found:
- Iterate through files in the file sidebar with keyboard - #60 by rigmarole
- Keyboard Navigation: Display Notes when scrolling without having to hit ‘Enter’
Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance, and in case it’s helpful, I’m using Ubuntu 24.04, Gnome.
