Javascript error when connection is prevented by firewall

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have a firewall app installed, or an alternative way to prevent Obsidian from connecting to forum.obsidian.md
  2. Launch Obsidian

Expected result

Obsidian launches and it is responsive.

Actual result

A pop up is shown, saying a Javascript error occured, indicating it is a RangeError.
After pressing OK on the pop-up Obsidian is launched and is responsive. However when the app is closed (using the the “quit” option in the dock or the x button in the top left corner) it freezes and the only way to proceed is to force close it.

Environment

  • Operating system: MacOS Catalina
  • Obsidian version: 0.8.14

Side-note: You can disable obsidian from checking for updates within the app.

This change required a new installer version.
Just download a full installer and reinstall the app.
