It is recommended that internal link shortcuts be added, so that internal links can be set/cancelled directly on the selected content.

To clarify, are you suggesting that a shortcut for internal links creation should be introduced? If yes, I heavily support this. I need something like Ctrl + K for external links to quickly [[actual internal link|insert stuff like this]]

Yes and and also to create an internal link on the current word after itโs written.
For that you can just select the word and press [[ and itโll make that a link!
