Issues setting up Obisidian Sync Vault

Hi everyone, relatively new to Obsidian and have decided to try out Obsidian Sync but I’m having a nightmare of a time setting things up.

I basically have my “Main Vault” and within that I want to have one “Synced Vault” folder where I can access any synced files across devices, but which does not affect other files and folders within “Main Vault”

I know there is the option to exclude folders but the issue is that I have a ton of files in “Main Vault” and don’t want these to Sync. The remote vault is also becoming a “separate entity” if I set it up alone and I have to switch to it using the main navigation page which opens it in a new window! I don’t want this! Just want one Synced folder within my main notes vault.

Is this possible?

As far as I know it is only possible to sync the entire vault and inside it exclude some folders.

In your case you might want to create a new vault that just contains the stuff you want to have synced and than link to the documents from the new vault into the main vault by change all the links. If you have absolute link path a find and replace would allow easy change of the path from the old folder into the new vault.

The only other option would be to sync the whole main vault and exclude all other folders in it. But this would prevent you from syncing the main vault with another computer later as you can only have on sync per vault set up.

Thank you! Seems like this product still has a long way to go. Appreciate your reply.
