(Not so much a plugin idea, but it seemed to not fit the help topic.)
I would like to integrate my notes system better with my task management system. For this to work I imagine a two-way “sync” between a task management app and obsidian. Since Obsidian is pretty slow to start on mobile (and not as comfortable to use for task management) a dedicated task manager seems the better solution on that platform. However, on my computer I rarely want to leave Obsidian. So being able to manage tasks in either my task manager or Obsidian seems very practical.
I took a cursory glance at the community plugins, but I’d like some actual user experiences with those plugins before deciding what to do.
Do you have any (positive/negative) experiences with any two-way syncing plugins out there? Have they worked well for you?
Thanks in advance for your help!
EDIT: To clarify: I use a Mac and an iPhone (and an iPad) all upgraded to their respective latest OS versions.
Not directly relevant, but Obsidian 1.8.0, coming soon and now available for Catalyst users, includes a built-in web browser. So, if you use a task manager that has a web presence, such as Todoist, or OmniFocus, or other, then you’ll be able to work on your tasks in Obsidian side-by-side with your notes. I find this much more compelling and reliable than integration via someone’s plugin.
You don’t say what OS you are using. If Mac, it is possible to use Obsidian and NotePlan together, as this article describes (I’ve not done this myself):
I use Habitica which turns up in the side panel of obsidian, so it’s not synced to my notes, but it is available so I can add tasks there whilst I’m working. I suspect something similar could be setup for any task manager with a web view.
The answers so far seem to suggests that people don’t use two-way sync plugins a lot. Good to know (even though calling it “knowing” might be a little premature…). I like @RoyRogers idea to maybe use the built-in browser. I’ll give that a try when it becomes available to me. Thanks everyone so far!
