Is there a way to replace the image links in the clipped article with downloaded images?

What I’m trying to do

I’ve recently updated to the latest version of Obsidian and noticed the new “Download attachments for current file” command, which allows downloading images linked in my notes. This is a fantastic addition and something I had really missed.

However, I’m not sure how to replace the external image links with these downloaded local files. From what I understand, the main benefit of downloading attachments is to enable offline access and create an archive in case the original links go dead.

Wouldn’t it make sense to automatically replace the external URLs in the note with links pointing to the locally saved images (e.g., in the /media/ or /attachments/ folder)? As far as I can tell, this step doesn’t happen automatically.

Am I missing something here, or is there currently a way or recommended workflow to update the image links to use the downloaded files? If not, are there any plugins or scripts that can help automate this process?

Thanks in advance!

Still struggling to find the solution, if anyone is able to help, I would greatly appreciate it.

I’m using the community plugin “Local Images Plus”. Perhaps it fits your needs…
