iPad Vertical Scrolling Not working in Obsidian

Bug: vertical scrolling does not work on iPad Pro with any mouse accessories/peripherals. This includes the Apple “Magic Keyboard” accessory that most people get with their IPad.

Note: Touch/finger vertical scrolling works

Context: Many other bug reports threads on the forums of this issue, beginning mid-2023, with hundreds of replies, although all have been locked due to inactivity. This issue still remains for me, with the Apple Magic Keyboard for the latest iPad Pro 14 (M4). Based on other (locked) bug threads, it looks like this issue happens with any non-finger/touch based mouse accessory: (iOS Scrolling Problem with external mouse)

Bug replication:

  • iPad Pro 13-inch (M4)
  • Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 13-inch (M4)
  • iPad OS 18.3.2 (latest)
  • Obsidian App version: 1.8.9 (latest)

Unclear if this is an issue with only M4 Ipad Pros, all IPad Pros, or all IPads.

Looking at some of the old, now locked threads, it looks like some people think they had narrowed down part of the problem to a bug in iOS itself. AFAIK, this was never corroborated or confirmed by others. Some posted what they thought were solutions and the ones that i have seen were not solutions for me. Given how longs it’s been, surely this is not indeed an Apple issue, right?

The vertical scrolling does not work in neither reader or edit mode.

It DOES, however, work in the Obsidian settings window. That is, in the Settings window of the obsidian app, if i were to click “Toolbar” on the left hand side, i can scroll in the resulting window using the keyboard/touchpad… The whole left hand side of the settings window is scrollable as well… Odd.

If you create a brand new vault. Does it happen there?

Can you post a screen recording of it happening?

I just did this test. Standard vault, I’m unable to scroll with my iPad pro magic keyboard, but in a new vault, I’m able to scroll… Might this be occurring because of a plugin or theme?

I found the issue… This was happening to my iPad due to a setting in the plugin “Image Converter”. Whenever the feature “Drag & Scroll resize” is enabled, I’m unable to scroll through notes with a mouse/trackpad. When disabled, I recover the ability to scroll through notes with a mouse/trackpad.
