I’m sorry for the title
… I didn’t know how to describe what I’ve stumbled upon
…
If a mod has a better title on hand, feel free to rename the topic ![]()
Steps to reproduce
-
Open a “mobile sandbox” vault in Obsidian on iPhone (I can’t repro on iPad, after a quick test)
-
Create a new note
-
Add one property to
Propertiesin Live Preview- Note: I used the command
Add file propertyavailable in the command palette to do so
- Note: I used the command
-
Once done, switch from
Live PreviewtoSourcemode- Note: I used the option
</> Source modeavailable in the “3 dots” menu (•••) at the top right of the note to do so
- Note: I used the option
→ Parts of the Properties “box” are still visible on the left and right of the YAML frontmatter block in Source (See screenshot below
)
Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]
Yes ![]()
Expected result
Not having these bits of Properties appearing when going from Live Preview to Source, I guess ![]()
Actual result
I’m not really sure how to describe what I’m seeing
… but when switching to Source mode, the left and right parts of Properties are still visually present in Source for some reasons

Additional information
- These “parts” of the
Properties“box” while visible don’t stay and disappear if I switch to another tab or set the focus/cursor in the note inSourcemode
- As far as I can tell, it’s only a visual thing
- I’ve encountered this both in a “mobile sandbox” vault stored in iCloud and in another one stored locally (
On My iPhone>Obsidian)
The content of the note used to test this is simply:
---
key: value
---
