Installation on Ubuntu Linux?

What I’m trying to do

I wish to install Obsidian on my laptop. MSI hardware with Ubuntu Linux 23.04. The Linux AppImage (1.4.16) resides in /Downloads. I made the AppImage executable with chmod a+x, then attempted to launch via a doubleclick on the icon. No visible result.

Things I have tried

searched for “install” - no results.

Here’s some reading for you to do regarding installing on Linux and the various approaches:

Can you install .deb package of Obsidian? I never had a problem with those (I’m on 20.04 still).

The AppImage requires you to install a package called fuse2 before it will run. This is something new in the latest versions of ubuntu with any appimage.
