Apologies in advance if this comes across as a lazy ask. I’ve read the Dataview documentation, browsed google, reddit, etc. and am still stuck on the issue. Because I’m an beginner but have profited from the Dataview plugin so far, any help would be highly appreciated!
What I’m trying to do
I’m looking for a way to display (infinite) backlinked notes in a list format along the lines of Luhmanns Zettelkasten. Instead of using a numerical system, I’m want to use outgoing links to refer to the note (idea) that has come before.
I assume this could be achieved with Dataview(js).
To illustrate, this is my test vault folder structure:
And this is how the notes in the “Zettel” folder are linked:
What I basically want is a list like this with infinite levels of backlinks, all from a specific folder (here it’s called “Zettel”), because I don’t want literature notes to show for example.
Things I have tried
So far I’ve used this Dataview query:
LIST file.inlinks
FROM "Zettel" AND #startingpoint
SORT ASC
(I tagged the ‘initial’ notes with #startingpoint to make sure they’re top level of the hierarchy)
With this result:
So the main issue is, I’m not getting the backlinks of backlinks (and so forth).
Also, backlinks from notes outside the defined folder ‘Zettel’ are also displayed.
Additionally, the alphabetical sorting doesn’t take effect.
