Incorrect colours after JPEG file import

Obsidian displays the wrong colors when importing a JPEG image that was created on Canva (the website). To reproduce:

  1. Open Canva and create an image that includes text in the color FFCC00 (darker yellow).
  2. Export image as JPEG and save.
  3. Import JPEG file into an Obsidian document.
  4. The yellow will be off, appearing too bright and lacking some of the red component of the original.

The bug appears with other colours too. They all seem to lack some red. If you start in canva with a purple color, after importing to Obsidian it will appear more blueish.

This is bad if one uses Obsidian to keep track of YouTube thumbnails, for example (as I do). This is likely an Obsidian bug (not a Canva bug) because the images (thumbnails) appear correctly everywhere else (image viewers, YouTube itself).

Thanks,

A.

Please follow and include the bug report template when submitting bug reports, thanks!

It’s not a question of not wanting… but a question of being able to reproduce the alleged bug in a vanilla Obsidian environment to fix it… and that requires more info than what you give (hence the template you need to fill out when reporting a bug):

  • What device ? What OS ?
  • Which Obsidian version are you running ?
  • Does it happen in the Sandbox Vault ? (with no community plugins, no theme, no css snippets)
  • etc…

What you reported could be due, at the moment to: a plugin you use, a theme, a css snippet… a mix of all :woman_shrugging: …
