I understand and agree with the design choice to have Obsidian use only the file name when possible, falling back to using the whole file address only when not doing so would create ambiguity.
However, that doesn’t explain what I recorded. There’s no such ambiguity with the files in my demonstration. The files have universally unique names. Therefore, there is no current general explanation for why it happened. The behavior is not consistent with the design choice, which I believe makes it a bug.
There is also no current specific explanation for why it happened to one file but not the other in my demonstration. My hunch is that this can only be answered when the malfunction is acknowledged and understood. Hopefully when there is a general explanation, it will explain the specific behavior I observed. Or when there is a specific explanation for my situation, hopefully it will lead to a general solution.
