Improving Link Insertion: 1. Link Text and 2. Navigating Targets

I have just started using Obsidian and there are lots of really cool and innovative features!!

I have 2 features to request which would greatly improve workflow:

1. Applying Links to Highlighted Text
Coming from Word, I’m used to right-clicking highlighted text and adding a hyperlink that applies directly to the selected text, whether it links somewhere in the document or externally.

It would be great if Obsidian supported a similar feature, where applying a link automatically uses the highlighted text as the link text without needing manual markdown edits. This would save a lot of time when frequently adding links.

2. Link Clickable Menu Hierarchical Navigation
Additionally, I really like the clickable link menu that shows possible places to link to. However, I find it inconvenient that the menu closes immediately after selecting the top layer of the target.

It would be much smoother if, after selecting a note, the menu stayed open to let me pick a, for example, specific heading within that note. If that heading has subheadings, I could then navigate those as well, clicking on the target. Etc etc until the lowest level is reached. At any point, pressing ‘Enter’ or ‘Tab’ or such could confirm the selected link level (note or heading), applying the link and closing the menu (even if not yet at lowest level).

This is similar to how navigation of online stores retailers tends to work.

Hierarchical navigation such as this would be more efficient than the current system, where the menu closes at the top level and I have to manually type markdown to link to specific headings within notes.

Thank you for considering these and please let me know if you have any questions
