Improper Date Format in Property Causes File Navigation Issue

To keep it concise: An improper date format appears to be causing unexpected file navigation behavior. As an example, when using the “YYYYMMDD” date format in the YAML and clicking on the Property date connection, a new file named “1970-01-01” is generated.

The date format follows the system settings of the device (see post below). Is there a conflict between using YYYYMMDD in your vault with the system settings used for parsing dates on your device?

You can customize it. Right now, it follows your OS settings. Change the way dates are displayed in your OS and make sure you restart Obsidian. This FR is specifically about letting the user customize the date format independently from what you set at OS level.

This FR was created to capture the discussion related to letting the user choose in which format the dates of type “date & time” in properties are saved on file. Currently, we use ISO 8601, extended syntax, second resolution, local time. While the format chosen for the internal representation may be subject to minor changes in the future, we do not plan for having the users pick a different format. Also, when you have daily note active, all dates have an associate shortcut to the respective daily note.
