Importing notes with attachments

What I’m trying to do

Import a note that has attachments as eith a Markdown file, a textbundle, a bear backup file, or HTML file.

When I make a new note, and attach a PDF it adds the PDF to my vault, and puts a nice preview of the PDF in my note.

When I either move the markdown file over, or import one of the listed formats, the attachments either don’t work at all, or show up as links and as embedded.

This is making it hard to migrate from other apps into Obsidian, since I make heavy use of attachments.

Things I have tried

I’ve tried dragging the md file into my Obsidian folder. I’ve tried the importer plugin. Not sure what else to try.

I don’t know what automatic ways there are, but you can use your system’s file manager (Finder, Windows Explorer, etc) to put the attachments in your vault folder. You may need to put them in a specific location, depending on how the links/embeds are done.
