Images not syncing

Steps to reproduce

When I import certain images into my vault, they do not get synced.

  1. On mobile or desktop app, with restricted mode, open the daily note
  2. Insert the image in the note

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]

Yes, reproduces 100% within the restricted mode on mobile

Doesn’t make sense to use the sandbox because I need the sync

Expected result

  • I expect to see the image both on mobile and desktop

Actual result

  • When I import on mobile, I only see image on mobile (both in explorer and note)
  • When I import on desktop, I only see image on desktop (both in explorer and note)
  • On the other side it says "PXL_20250831_210228528.MP.jpg could not be found, and the image is absent from explorer.

Additional information

  • When I long-press the image in the Android file panel and choose Open version history, it says: “No sync history for this file.”

  • Doesn’t matter how I import image into note (direct import, or share the image to Obsidian from within mobile gallery)

  • It seems the issue happens with all .MP.jpg images. I an unsure how that would cause the bug though.

  • Renaming the file to PXL_20250831_210228528x.jpg didn’t help.

  • I can share some problematic image if needed.

Ok my friends I just saw about the maximum file size…

Who expects that?

I think it would be useful to show in the sync history: This file was not synced because it’s too large.
