iCloud Drive sync issue: Obsidian folder exists on iPhone but not on Windows

What I’m trying to do

I’m trying to sync the obsidian vault on my iphone to my windows 11 laptop with icloud drive. The problem is that icloud has uploaded everything including the trash folder except the obsidian folder. Which I can see clear as day is sitting there in my drive folder on my iphone

Things I have tried

I have searched a lot of things. Such as, icloud not syncing windows 10, [iOS] iCloud Drive sync – a fellow obsidian user’s tips, and so on. I saw that it is in fact possible to sync obsidian iphone to windows with icloud with this video How to Sync Obsidian Notes for Free Across Devices (All Platforms). I’m pretty sure this is a problem with icloud so I also searched up icloud isn’t syncing all my files windows 2025. I asked chat gpt a lot of questions and that’s a lot of the solutions I used. such as restarting my laptop. uninstalling and reinstalling icloud on windows and so on. I’m hoping I can get some help on this because its really frustrating that this isn’t working

Have you created any notes in the folder yet?

Regardless, you may want to reconsider because “iCloud Drive on Windows may lead to file duplication or corruption”.

Yes I do have notes in the folder and I did see that article as well. I was thinking about just buying obsidian sync with my student account but before I do, do you have any recommendations on how to sync my notes from my iphone to my computer?

I don’t have recommendations, but here are your options:

  • Obsidian Sync
  • Remotely Save plugin connected to a cloud service or WebDAV
  • (technical) Git with the Working Copy or a-Shell iOS app
  • (technical) Self-hosted LiveSyncnplugin

I think SyncThing might work, too.
