I lost parts of my daily note on Obsidian Sync - How do you prevent this?

What I’m trying to do

I am having issues with my daily notes syncing across devices (iphone, mac). Specifically, notes I had taken on my iphone were erased when I opened and synced my mac book.

Things I have tried

There is nothing showing on sync version history to recover the file, but I was able to fix the issue as noted in Recover a snapshot by recovering the file and paste the information manually to recover the contents.

The help I need

What is the general process/things to keep in mind to sync across devices so this does not occur again? I’ve noted bits and pieces on other forum posts but nothing is clear. E.g., do not automatically open daily notes on 2 devices, try to keep both devices on before syncing, etc…

I also think it’s a bug that the sync version history shows no signs of the file across both devices, and one must dig through forums and FAQs and then perform a tedious file recovery to find and overwrite the document (especially when the lost file is on the mobile device). I never had this issue on icloud.

I’m going through old daily notes now, and have realized that a lot of my daily notes since moving to sync require me to manually review them - luckily file versions are showing for these older files (unlike the daily note in my initial post).

I understand obsidian sync uses some Google algorithm to update/merge files, but I do not understand why my daily notes WITH contents being over-ridden by files WITHOUT contents…

Also, why is there no alert that there is a conflict so you could select the correct files - at least if there was an alert, I would know to check the notes, however, at present, I may have incorrectly over-ridden files all across my vault.
