I like to insert my many Microsoft Excel and Word files in my obsidian notes to better find them. Though the missing of preview of the file is a big issue for me and despite I give detailed titles I have to open them to remember what they are about

Is there the possibility to preview these kind of files by hovering the mouse over them? Thank you

Obsidian is a markdown editor.
The possibilities include:

  • Take screenshots and embed them in markdown files.
  • Convert the files to markdown and search for cue words.

Thank you, I like the screenshot idea.
Btw, it is possible to see previews of images, videos and PDFs even if it is a markdown editor. That’s why I was expecting a similiar behaviour even for excel and word files at least.
I haven’t understood the second option but I think that would be too much work.

If you are looking for something, such as a line with the name of an auditor in the file Fiscal year 2021 report, you can use the index of Obsidian. Just an example.
