How to Transcribe a voice memo

What I’m trying to do

I have created a Shortcut on my iPhone to dictate a voice memo and save it to a specific folder in my Obsidian vault. I now want to automate the transcribing voice memo to text and save it to a transcribed notes folder.

Things I have tried

I’ve tried doing outside of Obsidian, but that isn’t effective. I’m a novice Obsidian user, and don’t know what steps to take. Your help is appreciated.

iOS Voice Memos already allows you to transcribe audio and set up transcription in shortcuts.

I guess you need to add a few more steps to your shortcut (after saving the voice memo):

  1. Transcript audio file
    1.a. Maybe translation
  2. Copy text to the clipboard
    2.a. Or somehow past it to Obsidian

Currently, I do not have my iPhone with me to give you more accurate steps. But there are also two (that I know) iOS apps that can help you with that:

I’m using both of them as I still haven’t decided which I prefer :slight_smile:
