How to show the current heading?

What I’m trying to do:

Heading 1

Heading 1.2

some text here…

Heading 2

Heading 2.1

In section Heading 2.1 of Heading 2, …

I want to show the current heading automatically. Is there any syntax just like =this.heading or =this.section can achieve that?

Thanks so much!

Try Quiet Outline plugin (3rd party).

I’ve not used the plugin mentioned, and can only talk on behalf of the Dataview plugin (and some general knowledge). Dataview only records section information when storing metadata related to task and list items, AFAIK. So there is no this.section or similar, unless you’re depacking information related to task and list items within a query.

In general, I’ve not seen this either, except when doing header links, allowing you do interlinks in the documents to other sections. This still doesn’t report which section you’re currently in though, but it would allow for linking to other sections. To get this links, if you have autolinks(?) on, you could start typing [[# and it’ll show the headings of the current document.
