How to highlight and annotate web pages?

What I’m trying to do

I am trying to highlight and annotate web pages. Then sync these highlights to obsidian for further organization.

What extension/plugin should I use for it ? I am looking for something that works on both android and

Things I have tried

  • Omnivore : Article must be first imported, cannot highlight directly on the page
  • Hypothesis : Works well but extension does not work properly on android.
  • Raindrop.io : Article needs to be imported on android ?

I am using kiwi browser on android so I can install extensions.

Glasp

Chrome extension: Glasp Web Highlighter - PDF & Web Highlights

How to use it on android ?

I mainly use Glasp on my Chromebook these days, however …

I have the Glasp Android app installed on my Android phone but currently it only allows me to view my past highlights and annotations … not to make new ones.

I have the Glasp Web Highlighter - PDF & Web Highlights chrome extension installed on my Kiwi browser.
I just wanted to double-check its functioning but when logging in with “Continue with Google” it is giving me …
“Something went wrong. Please try again”

Not sure what the issue is … I’ll keep trying and let you know if I manage to log on.

UPDATE: I managed to login with “continue with google” by both disabling Kiwi’s “block ads” as well as ublock for that login page(… I think it was Kiwi’s block ads that prevented it)

I am now seeing e.g.

… a page that I had previously highlighted & annotated on my chromebook.

Trying to highlight & annotate a new page in Kiwi so far isn’t working unfortunately.

Thank you for very much looking into this.

I got the hypothesis extension to work with kiwi browser. The highlights and sync work well. I plan to keep using that.

Good to know, thanks. I have Hypothesis on my Chromebook and at one stage had their Obsidian Plugin(broken?) for it.

I’ll also install it on Kiwi on my Android phone then; also Glasp can import from Hypothesis in case I need it.

PS: I quite frequently use the Hypothesis related docdrop(especially the bookmarklet) for youtube transcripts, annotations & highlights.

Docdrop works with youtube ? Thats great ! I have started using reclipped but might switch to docdrop.

I would suggest turning on “Plugins on top” in accessibility to easily turn on hypothesis. If you highlight a lot, it might be better to use this bookmarklet script instead of plugin. It autoloads hypothesis for every page.

Yes, having the plugins on top makes accessing them so much easier.
Thanks for pointing out the Tapermonkey script.

I discovered that you have to log in your hypothesis account on every new tab when using TamperMonkey script.
