Hi,
What I’m trying to do
Information mapping method notes formatting
I want to format my notes according to the information mapping method.
Format example
You can find a format example at page 6 of
InformationMapping.pdf
What’s needed
What do I need to do/use/develop so that my obsidian setup can do this?
Why do I want to use this format?
Enforced text structure = knowledge
- For me the method helps me to clearly logically structure the information my notes.
- The text formatting used, is actually a tool for building your note(s) logical structure.
- For me , it’s a way to transform my information (fleeting) notes into knowledge.
Old habit
During my working days, I’ve written most of my documents/trainings following the information mapping methodology. I would like to continue to expand my obsidian knowledge base in this way.
Thank you for for suggestions
That is a series of headings:
## Background
As you well know, …
## New Division
As of January 5, …
And so on.
If you want particular stylistic features like the lines between sections, you can use CSS snippets (see Help). (For the lines in particular it’s also possible to add those in Markdown, but it’s needless work and semantically a bit incorrect). If you want the headings displayed on the left instead of above each section, I believe a CSS snippet may be able to do that too. CSS snippets - Obsidian Help
If you have a particular set (or sets) of headings you use repeatedly, you can save effort by setting up a template. Templates - Obsidian Help
If you want to know how to do lists and tables (shown in the example altho I don’t think they’re specifically part of the system), see the formatting pages in Help.
Thank you for putting me in a direction.
I’ll check the CSS snippets
