Is there a Fold/Unfold function in Android Mobile?
I have hotkeys set up for Fold/Unfold of ALL bullets or sections (not sure what they are called) in Windows. If I open the same note in the android app, there is no similar function that I can find. The same settings apply to mobile, however Alt-F which is the windows hotkey is irrelevant in android.
I have looked in settings and on the forum and in the help file to no avail.
Go to Settings > Hotkeys in the mobile app, then search for “Fold all headings and lists” and “Unfold all headings and lists” and set hotkeys for them. Search “fold” in Hotkeys for additional related commands.
You can add more folding commands to Obsidian with the Creases plugin, and the Outliner plugin adds list-folding commands.
@Synchronicity thank you! Hot keys with a mobile device are tricky unless I’m missing something.
I like the idea of Outliner to mimic the functionality of other programs, most notably Workflowy which I have tried before. So I installed that plugin and will give a whirl
I assumed you were using a hardware keyboard. You can’t really do hotkeys on a soft keyboard, but you can add the commands to the mobile toolbar with the Commander plugin.
You can also pin them to the top of the command palette for quick access after swiping down.
actually, maybe it’s not so perfect after all…Outliner does a weird thing which essentially locks down the markdown, so that turning a checkbox into a bullet not work anymore, even when it is in edit mode. Any thoughts?
The second suggestion @Synchronicity gave is how I invoke these types of commands on mobile.
You can install the “Commander” plugin which allows you to add these commands to your mobile toolbar or to the ribbon bar or other location.
If you don’t want to install extra plugins, you can use the “Command pallete” core plugin. To use it, you “pull down” in your note which will bring up the command pallete interface. You can manually type either Fold all headings and lists or Unfold all headings and lists. Since typing this is a pain, you can pin these commands so they’re always at the top when you pull down.
I think the “Commander” plugin is a wonderful thing on mobile. I use it to add my frequent commands to my mobile toolbar. I use the “pull down” method for infrequently used commands
