How to clearly plan a catalog

What I’m trying to do

I’m a graduate student and I’ve been learning to use obsidian to take notes, I’d like to take different notes depending on the subject, but I’m having some problems with cataloging: even though I haven’t taken a lot of notes yet, I’m not able to find the ones I want to look at very quickly, they look too much like each other in the file listings! It takes me several seconds to find the notes I want to look at each time, and I can’t imagine how difficult it will be to find the notes I need when I have more notes in the future! :sob:

Things I have tried

I’ve tried a few plugins now, and my current file list looks like this:

However it seems that this level of differentiation is still not clear enough, and I was wondering if there is a better way for me to find the notes I want more quickly in the file list? Or would you be willing to share a screenshot of your file list or something to inspire me? thank you guys!!

It depends on what works best for you. The benefit of Obsidian is that no structure is imposed, and that it is relatively easy to build and improve structure that works for you as you go. There is a very interesting read at “Fork My Brain”, by Nicole Van der Hoeven, who also has a very active and in-depth YouTube channel dedicated to Obsidian.

thank you for your sharing! i made some changes and now it looks better:
