How to change a color palette in a custom theme

What I’m trying to do

Hi there, I’m a really new user of Obsidian, been tinkering a bit with the themes and plugins, and I’m wondering, some themes say they have a few color palette to choose from, but they don’t list any steps on how to do that. Can someone help me?

I’m using the Nord theme GitHub - nordtheme/nord: An arctic, north-bluish color palette.

Things I have tried

I’ve tried looking for any similar topics in the Discord / Reddit, but I can’t seem to find one. Any help will be really appreciated!

The link you have there is fairly old and doesn’t look related to Obsidian.

To get custom colors, you’ll need to write some CSS and put it in a snippet to change the various parts of the default theme that you want changing.

Luckily, off the shelf and ready to go color pallets are available in some themes, but what’s offered and how to use them will vary theme-by-theme.

For example, the Anuppuccin theme has an extended color schemes snippet that you need to download, put it in the YOURVAULT/.obsidian/snippets directory, enable, and then choose what color scheme you’d like to use in the Style Settings community plugin.

The Minimal theme has a bunch of color schemes available (including Nord) if you install the Minimal Theme Settings community plugin.

There are lots of options to choose from. I’d say the Style Settings community plugin is a must (also Minimal Theme Settings if you are using Minimal), and then try out a few different themes to see what’s available to change in Style Settings. Have fun!
