How to add Recent Files plugin window below File Explorer window

On my Mac, I had Obsidian set up with the File explorer view on the left with Recent Files plugin view below it. I opened Obsidian on my iPad to view a single file. I closed all other files and windows so I could read the file more easily on the iPad.

As the Mac and iPad are synched I lost the previous view set up on my Mac.
I can’t see how to get the old set up back. When I open File explorer I don’t see a way to shorten its vertical length so I can place Recent Files underneath it. If I open Recent Files it fills the whole space too.

How can I place Recent Files below File explorer and get the previous set up back?

I think you just drag the Recent Files pane down there until things shift around and the spot you want is highlighted.
