Adding the option to create new .md files from the Windows Context menu is pretty easy to do, but I found instructions online to be a little unclear, so I thought I’d post here.
-
Right click the text on this page and select ‘Save As’
-
Change the .txt extension to .reg and select ‘Save’
-
Open the downloaded .reg file and select ‘Yes’ when Windows asks permission to allow Registry Editor to make changes on your device.
That’s it! You can now create .md files easily from the Windows context menu. I find this helpful for different parts of my workflow involving md files, some of which eventually make it into Obsidian.
