How do you manage recurring projects (actions with more than one task)?

Let’s say you have a list of open tasks:

## To-Do's
- [ ] Task1 πŸ” every 3 months ⏳ 2023-04-15
- [x] Task1 πŸ” every 3 months ⏳ 2023-01-15 βœ… 2023-01-28
- [x] Task2 βœ… 2023-01-28
- [ ] [[Recurring Project1]]⏳ 2023-01-05 πŸ” every year

The content of the Recurring Project1 note look’s like this:

## To-Do's
- [x] Task1 of Project1 βœ… 2023-01-21
- [ ] Task2 of Project1
- [ ] Task3 of Project1

When I check off all the tasks of Project1 and also check of the β€œmain” to-do (the Recurring Project1 task) afterwards, the new scheduled date for the task is set,

## To-Do's
- [ ] Task1 πŸ” every 3 months ⏳ 2023-04-15
- [x] Task1 πŸ” every 3 months ⏳ 2023-01-15 βœ… 2023-01-28
- [x] Task2 βœ… 2023-01-28
- [ ] [[Recurring Project1]]⏳ 2024-01-05 πŸ” every year
- [x] [[Recurring Project1]]⏳ 2023-01-05 πŸ” every year βœ… 2023-02-03

which is fine, but the according β€œsub-tasks” are still all checked off of course.

How is your workflow for recurring projects and their tasks?
How do you manage actions which require more than a single action and that are also recurring in any way?

Many thanks for all your input and ideas!

I’m not really into recurring tasks, but two ideas spring into mind:

  1. Have a reminder on the recurring project to add tasks to workflow. In other words, the recurring task is to insert a template with all of the tasks related to the recurring project
  2. How would it work if your main task is recurring, and all the other tasks are sub-tasks of that recurring task? Would tasks then reset the subtasks for the new incantation of the task? Update: No, it won’t…

Thanks for your idea @holroy!!

How do you link the tasks to the recurring template?
Does that mean that each recurring β€œtask” links to a different note with differen tasks?

Hmmm

Many thanks!
