How do you close split view?

Hi everyone,
I’m quite new to Obsidian and perhaps this is a stupid question, but I searched online and this forum and couldn’t find an answer…

So I already had a note open and I opened another note with “open to the right” option creating a kind of split screen situation. Now I would like to close the second note, and I can’t find the way to do that… I accidentally clicked also “split down”, so now my screen is split in three parts and I don’t know how to get back to the initial layout of having one note open?

i tried quitting Obsidian, but when I open it again the split layout is still there.
I tried “force reload” in the “view” options - it doesn’t help.
The three dots in the right corner of each open note don’t have any options that would affect the view, except split right and split down which i already am trying to reverse.

So basically my question is how do you reset the layout of how the open notes appear on the right side of the left sidebar?

I feel like there must be a really simple solution to this and it’s driving me crazy… What am I missing? I’m on a Mac using Obsidian app.

Thanks so much for your help

Just close the note that is opened in the split screen you no longer want.
And you can use workspaces to save your layout(s) and to reload it later.

Hey, thanks! I tried that, but there was no x to close it so it took me a while to figure out I need to close the tab via file dropdown menu. I also wasn’t able to move tabs or windows around, they stayed glued to the position in which they opened and the tab bar was missing. Turns out it was the hider plugin messing with the functionality of the tabs and windows… Anyway, I turned the plugin off now and everything works as it should.
