How do I open Obsidian on the Files tab in the Left Sidebar instead of Recent Files

What I’m trying to do

I’m on a Mac (Sequoia), Obsidian Version 1.7.4 (Installer 1.4.16), and often I have Obsidian app open but windows closed until I need it. Whenever I activate Obsidian by clicking the app icon in the Dock, Obsidian opens with the Recent Files tab selected (clock icon) on the Left Sidebar instead of the Files tab (folder icon).

I want to have Obsidian open to the Files tab instead of the Recent Files tab.

Things I have tried

  • Closing window with the Files tab selected. When I open Obsidian, the Recent Files tab is selected.
  • Removing the Recent Files tab by right-click closing it. It comes back when I open Obsidian again, with it selected.
  • Looking in Settings for a switch of some sort. I don’t see any, unless I missed it.

I have the exact same issue, but haven’t found how to change that behavior either. The only thing that worked was checking off the Recent Files plugin. If I do that and reopen Obsidian, it will open with the Files tab chosen on the left sidebar.

If I activate the Recent Files plugin, then it reverts to opening in the recent files tab again.

Ah, @tempenet thank you for the response! The Recent Files function feels like such a core part of any file-based apps, I forgot it was a plugin. Perhaps I will contact the developers of the plugin.

I believe this bug was fixed in the most recent version of Recent Files. Be sure to check for plugin updates to ensure you’re on the latest!

Thank you, I updated the plugin and it worked!
