Stupid question, I know.
Iβd like to have the menu that comes up on the left show ONLY notes instead of every file within every note. I feel like when I first installed Obsidian a few years ago, this was the default view. Am I crazy, here?

Are you referring to Settings > Files & links > Detect all file extensions switch? Try toggling that and see if that speed your issue.
In addition to not displaying the file extensions, a lot of people keep some kind of βmetaβ folder with other folders inside it to tuck away Obsidian related stuff: Attachments, Templates, Templater-Templates, etc.

You can set that in Settings > Files & Links (just under the Detect allβ¦), then set a default folder for your attachments.
No, thatβs already switched off for me, and the files still show up in the left bar.
Thanks. What a pain though. Creating the folder and moving all the old attachments over unlinks them with the old notes.
It doesnβt work. The attachments still show up in the left menu.
