How do I link to a note in its entirety, but to some part of it (word/phrase/line)?
Obsidian offers these kind of links:
- To the entire note
- To a heading in a note
- To a block within a note, identified by a block id
- (Through tasks, to a given task)
As far as I know, it’s not possible to link to anything else, like smaller parts of a block like a word or parts of sentences.
You need the !
before the link to embed (or transclude, as it is also called).
If you don’t want to embed, you just refer to it, e.g. even adding an alias to the link so the writing is smooth. E.g.: [[Whole note#^blockoftextinwholenote|aliasyouwillseeintext]]
, e.g. Lise was talking about [[Production deadline#^xzy456|Bob's idea]]
to streamline this and that…
Try adding the exclamation mark in front to see what happens. Remove it when you are referring to something in the middle of a sentence.
