How can I use * as character without escaping it every time?

I mostly (if not always) use * as a character and not a styling tag. I wish I could just use * as it as instead of escaping it every time.

Are there anyway to disable the editor from reading * as a styling tag? If I really need something in bold or italic, I would just use b or i tag.

You mean disable markdown?
It’s a markdown editor; I don’t think it can do that.

In case it is just about avoiding having to type the escape character each time, my proposition would be to use something like espanso. Configure it to automatically replace * by \*.

Just checked out Espanso, it looks promising but I wish I could do it without installing external softwares.
