How can I paste image in a note?

All of a sudden, when I paste an image that I copied to the clipboard into a note, CRTL+V doesn’t work. I have no idea what I’ve set up to cause this, so please help.

Does pasting the same image to other programs like MS Word work? If so, the issue is on your Obsidian configuration. You can try Ctrl + V on sandbox vault. Try also right click –> paste.

Thanks, but I mean, I am trying to paste an image captured on the desktop into a line in Obsidian Notes, but no matter how many times I press Ctrl+V, Obsidian Notes does not respond.

Yes, and blue_emperor suggested some things to try:

  1. Does Ctrl-V still work in other programs? Yes or no?
  2. Open the Sandbox vault. Press the help question mark button at the bottom left. Or type Ctrl-P → “Open sandbox vault”. It’s a help vault with default settings, so you can test it there. If it doesn’t work, it might be a bug in the app, or something in your OS. If it does work, you know it’s something in the settings of your vault.
  3. Try right-click paste. Does it work? If not, there might be something completely different that is wrong.
  4. Does Ctrl-V work on text? This will answer if there is something wrong with the hotkey, or something wrong only with images.
  1. In other programs, Ctrl+V works perfectly.

2.~4. In Sandbox vault, an image copied to the clipboard can be pasted into a note flawlessly using Ctrl+V.

Nevertheless, this functionality does not work in my main vault, which is both local and syncing. Furthermore, as shown in the image below, creating a new note via the menu or using the Ctrl+N shortcut fails.

The only way to create a new note is by right-clicking on a folder and selecting “New Note.”

If this is the case, it means there is some setting, community plugin, etc., in your vault causing the issue.

  • I’d check assigned Hotkeys to start. There may be a conflict, but Ctrl+V is pretty standard for paste. I doubt you (or a plugin) would assign that to something else, but you never know.
  • Try enabling Restricted mode (no community plugins) to see if there’s any change.

What does this mean? What syncing tool are you using? Where is your vault stored?

You didn’t answer question 3 or 4. It’s quite possible your cloud syncing tool is preventing you from doing certain things. It might not be related to the hotkey. But you haven’t answered those questions, so it’s hard to know.

Please run the Obsidian command “Show Debug Info” and paste the results here.

I don’t see an image.

Yes, you’re right. It works perfectly in restricted mode. I installed several plugins after watching YouTube, and it seems one of them was causing the issue. Thank you!
