Use case or problem
When working with a large vault structured into multiple folders, I often need to search within a specific folder. While Obsidian allows “search in folder” via the file explorer’s right-click menu, there’s no way to assign a hotkey to open this scoped search quickly. This slows down workflows that rely heavily on folder-specific searches.
Proposed solution
Add a command for “Search in current folder” (or allow assigning a hotkey to the existing “Search in folder” functionality). When triggered, it would open the search pane and automatically scope the search to the folder currently selected or active in the file explorer or editor.
Current workaround (optional)
Currently, I right-click on the folder in the file explorer and choose “Search in folder.” This requires mouse interaction, which interrupts keyboard-driven workflows.
