Host, Publish and Share Obsidian Canvas free on forefy.com

Hi!

I’m sharing a site I vibe-coded initially for myself

in which you can:

  • Sign up with gmail
  • Upload your Obsidian Vault - to have the site list the canvases found and select only relevant ones
  • From selected canvases, the site will fetch other data like linked notes, png’s etc (to make the canvas seamlessly whole
  • The Obsidian canvas will get its free-hosted place on the internet, under forefy . com
  • You can share Publicly (anyone with the link) or Privately (anyone with the link + authenticated, and access-revokable)

Why:

I’m a security researcher and engineer from Web3, and we believe in contributing to the embetterment of the space, and I knew people out there might need this because I really needed it:

  • Disliked LucidChart, Excelidraw, Miro, drawio UX (but needed their comments feature and free hosting)

  • Wanted to have all the images in the world draggable (e.g. I want to show docker icon, or a web3 wallet, and I don’t want to pay premium for mediocre images), solved by allowing to attribute for copyrighted images which opens up ability to use them for free in a lot of cases

  • Wanted obsidian-level beauty and calmness

  • Wanted darkmode…

  • And really it’s not that complicated, really surprised there isn’t an alternative

    Visuals:

Upload with selection (just canvas isn’t enough, there might be links to other notes, file or image references from elsewhere in the vault - but you can just select the relevant canvas to share)

The obsidian vault is converted magically to react flow, I spent hours getting this right to keep the graphs as close as possible to the source, translate hyperlinks, colors, etc.

You can select nodes and link to them on the comments, then when someone else clicks it it zooms in to the selection you are discussing:

If you want a peer review, you can create a sharable link and send to your friends

Your friends can comment back after login:

I’m hosting this on my behalf as a contribution, I would keep this going only if I see people enjoying and using it and justifying the cloud costs, please give feedback!
