Feature Request: Homepage “Recent Posts” List for Obsidian Publish
Obsidian Publish currently lacks a native way to show a dynamic list of recent notes on the homepage.
This makes blogs and content-driven sites feel static and forces users to rely on manual links or external workarounds.
Request:
Add an optional built-in component for Publish that automatically displays a list of recent notes on the homepage.
Expected capabilities:
-
Sort by last modified date or publish date
-
Configurable item count (e.g. latest 5 / 10 / N)
-
Optional filters (folder, tag, frontmatter flag like
publish: true) -
Show title + date, optional excerpt
-
Auto-update without manual maintenance
Why this matters:
-
Homepage recency is a core expectation for blogs and knowledge sites
-
Reduces friction for non-technical users
-
Eliminates fragile manual index pages
-
Aligns Publish with common static-site generators while keeping Obsidian’s simplicity
This is a high-impact, low-conceptual-risk feature that would significantly improve Publish’s usability for writers and bloggers.
