I just got started with Obsidian and I’m testing it a bit (fully stock, no custom plugins).
I see that highlighted text is barely visible in the app on dark mode. On a computer this isn’t a problem.
I always have my android phone on dark mode. As it’s an OLED this helps quite well to save battery and it’s more pleasant on the eyes.
This is a Poco F3 running on Android 11.
My computers & phone are syncing through Syncthing.
There is no “show debug info” in the Android app.
Steps to reproduce
Dark mode on Android, highlight a text.
Expected result
Being able to see highlight on the text
Actual result
Almost invisible highlighting.
Environment
Operating system:
Android 11
Debug info:
v1.0.5 on Android app
Windows Obsidian version: v0.13.23
Installer version: v0.13.23
Operating system: Windows 8.1 6.3.9600
Thanks. I don’t have anything except the default theme (I just checked), no CSS either.
I’ll check the settings on the phone, but I haven’t had issues in any other app.
edit: I tried different colour gamuts, there’s no difference. I’ll check if there is any kind of customizable color theming or so as well.
Solved, thanks to your feedback, which lead me in the right direction!
In Xiaomi MIUI 12.5 (android 11): Settings > display > more dark mode options > individual apps:
Turn off dark mode for Obsidian. Inside Obsidian settings: turn on dark theme again, as it will have flipped to light theme now.
Now it works.
So there is indeed an OS dark mode theme per app instead of the app based theme. I haven’t had issues before, I’m not sure exactly how this is supposed to work.
