There is a new, complete workaround by Abisheik which supersedes their previous ones, and it is excellent! This is the first workaround that implements every part of the request. It needs a plugin for the JavaScript part.
In v1.11 top bar and nav bar will hide when the note is scrolled. No ETAs.

I’m very happy to see this added, but the current implementation doesn’t address the core concern, which is more space while editing. It only works when the keyboard is closed, which is good but less important.
It also isn’t implemented on tablet, which despite having a bigger screen is where I actually want it most (for typing on the screen in landscape). Tho I’d guess for most people having it on phone is probably more important.
EDIT: Hiding the bar while editing has a bigger impact because it frees a bigger percent of the text area. (On phones and on tablets in landscape mode. The difference is less pronounced on tablets in portrait mode.)
I’ve turned Abisheik’s workaround back on for now.
