I have a 2-part question. This is not a bug kind of issue; it’s a user-doesn’t-know-how-to-use-the-tech issue.
I have a very large recipe database which I exported from a recipe management software many months ago and then exported into Obsidian, and was gradually working on getting the recipes formatted appropriately, since Obsidian isn’t really designed for this. One of the things I was doing is setting up the front matter like this:
This should enable the recipes to be searched and sorted (and rendered) various ways, using the dataview plugin. It was working fine at the time. But that ingredients section is where my two questions come in.

This was working before, but since the properties feature was added, the templates (core) plugin is making this portion all wonky, so I have to figure out the formatting all over again every time. (I’m hoping it still actually works once I restore the original formating.) See below.

It’s a pain in the butt to enter these recipes because every ingredient has to be manually re-entered and formatted. Is there some way to expedite this process? An easy script to run a copy/paste through that will break it up or something? I’ve been putting off formatting new recipes because it’s quick to copy/paste them into a new note, but a real hassle to format the ingredients for the front matter. But surely there’s a way to make this more automatic.
This is how the templates plugin now enters the first portion of the recipe template:
