Help with Annotator

What I’m trying to do

Use Annotator

Things I have tried

Unfortunately, this report is too short to be useful.

I can only guess that you wanna load a PDF in Annotator:

  • Remove the backtiks ` at the top and bottom. backtiks are wrong.
    Example:
---
annotation-target: xxx
---

Replace the x with your PDF URL path. If the path to your PDF is correct, your PDF will open in Annotator.

  • You need to use Annotator to generate the correct URL to your PDF. Don’t use the PDF URL of Sundqvists GitHub page, that’s just an example and won’t work in your vault.

Consider to read again the readme on Sundqvists GitHub page.

The way I added pdf files:

  1. Create a folder in your obsidian vault, call that folder “research”
  2. put your PDF files in this folder,
  3. Create a new note, wherever you want.
  4. Add 3 dashes, this will trigger the properties menu
  5. In the first field add annotation-target
  6. In the second field simply drag and drop your PDF file, this looks like ![[Name.pdf]]
  7. Now, go to the menu bar symbol with the 3 dots, this opens a menu, where you want to select “Annotate”

First, I need to apologize for my poor English.
Secondly, I found two problems that looks not right:

Annotator plugin has a better alternative, if you don’t mind me offering it: PDF++
It is actively maintained, even.

No need to apologize, people of all nationalities use Obsidian. We all try our best to convey meaningful messages. Not always an easy task, no matter what language we speak. Also, not everyone knows English well, but barriers shouldn’t stop you from asking !
:slightly_smiling_face:

I’m glad you could resolve, Annotator is a great plugin but a bit old and to add a path isn’t user friendly.
As Yurcee pointed out, take a look at PDF++, this plugin is easier to use and up to date.
