HELP me organize my people.. please

What I’m trying to do

I work with many clients and I don’t want to leave any of them behind. AND what a beautiful thing DATAVIEW looks to be… I just can’t get it to work for me.

I’d love it if I had a chart of all my clients

  • names
  • last contact date
  • next steps
    I also have many business partners that would be great if they had an extra line.
  • status

I’d prefer to use the same template for my clients and my business partners.

I do like the idea of hashtags then I can search up people according to if they prefer being contacted by #phone_call vs. #text

THEN I get to organize my ideas and designs

Things I have tried

ChatGPT helped me out a little but it doesn’t seem to be able to create code for Obsidian.

I’m willing to erase and start over

perhaps it’s even my template set up that is wrong

Without knowing your template it is hard to tell.
What are you using in your template? YAML-Frontmatter or Inline-Fields?

And you said you wanted a chart. From what I understood, it should be a table though right?

You can definitely use the tags in a dataview query to further filter your results.

In short: you need to give at least an example of a template and the query you are using.

One thing you might want to investigate is the Projects plugin. It can use Dataview to populate a database-like view that you can interact with.

It can also work without Dataview. Just with files and properties. Then you can use templates to make new rows use that template.

On it’s own, Dataview can show stuff, but isn’t really for editing from within the results. (As far as I know.)

I was using DATAVIEW by Michael Brenan. Perhaps the wrong plugin for what I want.

it was really simple

just a quick thing I can look at to see who I should be contacting today or this week. and what I need to finish for them. (forgot the Spouse section)

man this Obsidian thing just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
it’s crazy what you can do with this. Wow. <3

Wow crazy I just looked into it more. The Projects plugin looks amazing.

A little overwhelming.
One thing at a time though. Very cool.
