Handwriting via Markup on iOS doesn't save if you 'insert page from file' while handwriting

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a PDF (any)
  2. Press on 3 dots on the top right of the PDF viewer inside Obsidian
  3. Press Share
  4. Press Markup
  5. Handwrite on 1st page
  6. Press on 3 dots “Insert from File” on Thumbnails on the left.
  7. Choose another PDF to insert a page.
  8. Handwrite on this page.
  9. Press “Done” and “Delete PDF”.
  10. See PDF and see that no handwriting was saved on 2nd page.

Now if you do these same steps and choose “Insert blank page” instead of “Insert from file” and handwrite on the blank page and then press “done” and then “delete” it, the handwriting saves as it should.

Additional information

I have a video I can share on the forum where I tested in this test vault and was able to repro. Shared in Discord: Discord

This is a bug in Apple’s markup, not Obsidian. Happens in every app, even Apple’s own Files.app  I have opened a bug report in Apple’s feedback assistant, and if we’re lucky it’ll be fixed in iOS/iPadOS 23

Doesn’t happen for me in the Files app. Tested before reporting. Only happens to me in Obsidian.

Tested again just now and it is resolved. Must have been an apple bug. Thanks!
