Global setting to save new markdown files with "Hide Extension" = true

Use case or problem

I like how Obsidian automatically hides .md extensions in the file tree by default, but they’re still present in the MacOS finder when I’m managing files there and in other apps. Finder has a global setting to show all file extensions, but unchecking it just leaves extension display up to each file’s “Hide Extension” attribute.

In MacOS, each app determines whether to save new files with extension hidden or visible. Native Apple apps save their files with extension hidden by default (and also offer a toggle for it). There’s no way to set this in Obsidian.

Proposed solution

Toggle to set “Hide Extension” to true for all .md files that Obsidian creates.
I would look for it under Settings > Files and Links.

Current workaround

Smart folder in Finder to search for all .md files in my Obsidian vault with Hide Extension set to false, bulk update files whenever I get annoyed by stray extensions when managing my vault’s markdown files in Finder and other apps.
