Geolocation ability in desktop app

Obsidian Mobile 1.11 added the long-awaited ability to receive a geolocation, which is a game changer for the Map View plugin, and I’m so happy it was added!

As mentioned in the original thread, I am opening a new thread to request this to also work on the desktop apps. Although many “desktop” devices don’t have a built-in GPS, some do, like my beloved Surface Go (running Linux of course  ). It would be awesome for those devices to be able to show a real-time location indicator as well, just like Map View on mobile received on 1.11.

+1! Been using the Geo Helper app for so long. And don’t get me wrong — I’m glad such tool managed to fill the gap flawlessly, but native location support has become a necessity.

Now let’s make this feature available for everyone!

Please do this!!! This would be great. It would replace the feature I used in Synology notes that has not yet been possible with Obsidian.
